University of Lincoln
The University dates back to 1861 when the Hull School of Art was founded. In 1976 a number of higher education colleges merged to form the Hull College of Art and Technology. In 1990 the college was renamed Humberside Polytechnic and in 1992 was awarded University status becoming the University of Humberside. Since 2001 the institution has been through an extremely challenging re-organisation and relocation and has changed its name to the University of Lincoln.
The University has a student population of around 8,900, including over 900 postgraduate students. Around 3 per cent of the student population is international. The University employs over 1,000 staff (figures taken from the University of Lincoln Annual Review 2001-02).
The University of Lincoln is an associate member of Yorkshire Universities.
